"Nosce te Ipsum: Integration of the Interior into Identity through Conscious Bodily Inhabitation"

Tiana’s current work continues to stem from her fascination with human anatomy. As the main motivating factor behind the original body of work comprising her BFA thesis, as well as the driving force behind the art Tiana’s been creating since graduating, the human body has certainly proven to be an unwaning source of study and inspiration. Her recent paintings and drawings delve ever deeper into the interior of the body, focusing on specific anatomical features and even microscopic representations. Visually combining several of her seemingly tangential interests (including cartography, optics, and the aesthetics of diagrams, to name just a few), Tiana has been developing a body of work in which she explores the concept of human existence as a duality: one of both pure physical experience, as well as an existence defined by consciousness of mind in isolation from external sensory influences.
